ANALISIS TOKSISITAS BEBERAPA TUMBUHAN HUTAN DENGAN METODE BRINE SHRIMP LETHALITY TEST (BSLT)

Abstract


Biji suren (Toona sureni (Blume) Merr.), mimba (Azadirachta indica A.Juss.), mahoni (Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq.), dan saga (Adenanthera pavonina L.) telah digunakan untuk mengobati penyakit tertentu oleh masyarakat tradisional, namun demikian penelitian mengenai bioaktivitas keempat biji tersebut terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis aktivitas toksisitas dari biji suren, mahoni, mimba, dan saga. Keempat sampel diekstraksi dengan cara maserasi menggunakan etanol 96%. Ekstrak etanol yang diperoleh diuji efek toksisitasnya terhadap larva Artemia salina dengan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) dan hasil BSLT dipresentasikan melalui Lethal Concentration 50 (LC50). Nilai LC50 dari ekstrak etanol biji suren, mahoni, mimba, dan saga berturut-turut adalah 75, 84, 323 dan 449 µg/mL. Keempat ekstrak tersebut memiliki bioaktivitas dengan nilai LC50 <1000 µg/mL, dan ekstrak biji suren paling berpotensi memiliki bioaktivitas paling tinggi karena nilai LC50 paling rendah.
