RESPONS BURUNG BAWAH TAJUK TERHADAP SISTEM PENGELOLAAN TPTI DAN TPTII/SILIN

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui respon burung bawah tajuk terhadap pengelolaan hutan produksi di PT Balikpapan Forest Industries (BFI). Pengamatan populasi burung dilakukan pada tiga blok hutan yakni blok hutan sistem TPTI (11 tahun), blok hutan sistem TPTII/SILIN (4 tahun) dan blok hutan sistem TPTII/SILIN (1 tahun). Sepuluh buah jala kabut masing-masing berukuran 10 m (panjang) x 4 m (tinggi) dipasang secara bersambungan pada setiap blok hutan. Jala kabut dibuka jam 06.00, ditutup 17.00 dan diperiksa setiap 15 menit sekali. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan indeks keragaman jenis Shannon-Weinner, indeks dominansi Simpson, indeks kekayaan jenis Margalef dan indeks kesamaan komunitas. Selama penelitian, 164 ekor burung dari 35 jenis telah tertangkap. Nilai indeks kesamaan Sorenses di bawah 50% yang berarti bahwa komposisi jenis burung berbeda diantara skema manajemen. Namun demikian test Kruskal Wallis menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan yang nyata di antara skema manajemen dalam hal jumlah individu, jumlah jenis dan jumlah familia. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa komposisi jenis burung berbeda tetapi tidak berbeda dalam kekayaan jenis.
