ABSTRACT

Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park in collaboration with the Wildlife Conservation Society Indonesia Program (WCS-IP) to conduct a routine monitoring on terrestrial vertebrate mammals such as Felidae by using camera traps located at Resort Pemerihan-Way Haru. The research purposes was to identify the characteristics of the habitat, analyze the diversity and relative abundance index of Felidae in Resort Pemerihan-Way Haru, Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Lampung. The research methodologies used in this study were literature review, analysis of the vegetation and capture-recapture using camera traps. The important value index of the dominant vegetation of the Felidae’s habitat is Etlingera sp (IVI = 22.47), for seedlling and sapling stage is Mallotus miquelianus (IVI = 15.03 and IVI = 17.51), for pole stage is Dillenia excelsa (IVI = 37.53) and tree stage is Dracontomelon dao (IVI = 14.89). Species successfully recorded in the camera traps is marbled cat (Pardofelis marmorata) (RAI = 0.14; n = 2) and leopard cat (Prionailurus bengalensis) (RAI = 0.14; n = 2).

Key words: Camera trap, diversity of species, Felidae, habitat characteristic.
